Welcome and Congratulations on your Engagement!
It is our privilege to help you prepare for your life together in this wonderful sacrament, and we are prepared to do just that. The focus of Marriage Preparation is not centered primarily on planning the wedding. Its focus is on preparing to receive the sacrament, and to live out a lifelong union of love with the Lord.
Whether you are planning a wedding at Prince of Peace, or planning a wedding elsewhere, we are happy to work with you to complete your Marriage Preparation requirements. The Diocese of Dallas has a minimum preparation time of at least six months prior to your planned wedding date but planning a year or more out is also common.
First Step: orientation Meeting
Your first step is to request an orientation with Michael. This meeting can be completed in person, or online. Here, we will go over the Marriage Preparation process in detail and answer any questions you might have. Pick only one option:
Schedule an Orientation Meeting In Person Schedule an Orientation Meeting Online
WHAT WE’LL DISCUSS
We will review the entire process, discuss the paperwork and preparation programs, and answer any questions you may have. If your first meeting is in person, you will receive an official Marriage Prep packet at that time. If it is online, you will receive the packet during your first in-person meeting. We will discuss the two Marriage prep programs listed below, as well as resources for learning NFP (Natural Family Planning).
-
The Prepare and Enrich Marriage Inventory is designed to equip marriage champions, couples, and families with evidence-based skills and insights to foster healthy relationships.
Witness to Love is a virtues-based, Catechumenate model of marriage renewal and preparation that integrates modern principles of psychology and the virtues to help couples facilitate an authentic dialogue about their relationship.
-
Natural Family Planning (NFP) is a form of managing fertility by tracking the natural signs of fertility as a part of the woman's menstrual cycle. The Diocese of Dallas requires a class on NFP as part of the Marriage Preparation process.
After your initial orientation meeting, you will receive access to another webpage with resources and step-by-step guides for each stage of the Marriage Preparation process. We look forward to walking with you as you prepare for the sacrament of Matrimony!
